The golden rules are a set of values that extend into every area of school life. They enable children to become more aware that their behaviour is their choice and that the many choices they make during the day can be influenced by the rules.

THE GOLDEN RULES:
  1. We are gentle
  2. We are kind and helpful
  3. We listen
  4. We are honest
  5. We work hard
  6. We look after property
  7. We don't hurt others
  8. We don't hurt any body's feelings
  9. We don't interrupt
  10. We are honest we don't cover up the truth
  11. We don't waste our own or others time
  12. We don't waste or damage things

The Quality Circle time model (Jenny Mosley) provides a sound platform of positive behavioural management with emotional literacy support for all children. The major features are:

A self care programme for teachers

Key listening systems

Golden rules boundaries system

An incentive system called Golden time

An effective playground policy

Special features for children beyond the usual strategies.

Many staff completed the training. However, with staff movement I would not describe this process as consistent or sustained with the exception of the Golden Rules.  An ongoing review of our behaviour management system is in progress. I am hoping the school will adopt the whole process because it links with Assessment to learn processes, values and the key competencies.
