Term 1, 2010 Room 8 Newsletter

Dear parents / caregivers,

Welcome to another action packed year! Our exciting programme is listed below:

·    Social Studies: Maori Culture & Heritage.  

·   Health: Roles, Rules, Rights & Responsibilities.

·   Education for Sustainability: Save Our Skinks!

·   Maths: Number: Basic Facts, Operations, Statistics.  

·   Reading: SSR, Library Skills, Instructional Reading.

·   Writing: Letters, Biographies, Descriptions.

·   Speaking: Oral Language Skills.

·   Physical Education: Aquatics & Swim for Life School Challenge.

·   Music: Waiata.

 HOMEWORK: Compulsory

 ·  Daily reading: 20 minutes (minimum). 

·   Mathletics: 20 minutes a day / 1000 points per week

·   Times Tables: 5 minutes a day. 

   Alphabet Research Project. (Optional)

Beginning with the letter A and following in sequential order.  

One page of factual information on any topic that you are interested in beginning with that letter. IDEAS: Country / famous person / historical event / musical instrument / Remember: Standard of presentation is important. Include borders, a title, important facts, and a drawing or diagram.  (In Homework Book). Due in on Friday!
