Dear Parents, Caregivers, Friends and Students,
Te Moana
Term 2
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
It’s hard to believe its Term 2 already. This week we welcome Ms Sandy Newman who is a trainee teacher from the University of Waikato. She is in her final year and will be with us for 8 weeks. It is a wonderful opportunity for our class to benefit from the latest teaching practice and have two teachers working with groups in the classroom. Next week we also welcome our ERO reviewers who will be in school from Tuesday observing the progress we have made since their last visit. Over the next few weeks we will be carrying out assessments in reading and numeracy to ensure that the classroom programme is tailor made to meet the needs of our students. These are one to one assessments which will help us write reports at the end of the term.

Science
During the course of the science unit we will need the following for our experiments: Plastic soft drink bottles, tin cans, jam jars, cardboard tubes from glad wrap or tin foil. Jars and bottles need to be clean.
Homework:
Homework goes home on Monday and is returned on Friday. Students are expected to read for a minimum of 15 minutes every day and complete their reading log. There are ten spelling words each week and this term students are expected to be learning their times tables at home to support our classroom testing. The 2,s, 5’s and 10 x tables should be learned first.
If you have any questions or concerns please come and see me. It’s difficult to talk before school but I am happy to make time available after school on Monday, Wednesday or Friday.
Kind Regards, Natalie Hill
